We are a group of social golfers who arrange annual  trips to different golf venues. We especially like the areas of Normandy & Brittany and  each year we play for the Toucan Trophy.

We were formed in 2006 when the Ryder Cup was held in Ireland. A few golfers got together to talk about arranging a golf trip to Ireland in the same year. We threw in some names for this group and ended up with ‘the rough Ryder cup’..  So we decided to call our group ‘Roughryder Golf’.

Six of us travelled to Fernhill Golf resort in Cork . The Swansea – Cork Ferry wa operating at the time. We played Fernhill twice and the wonderful Lee Valley. We didn’t have a prize for the winner so on the way back we bought a Toucan on the Ferry and this has survived as the coveted prize for each year’s winning golfer.

Founding members were:

‘Jammy’ John

‘Squire’ Paul

‘Woody’ Alan

‘Prof’ Andy

‘Havana’ Terry

‘Giant’ James

See Coarse Golf for more details.

Over the years others have joined and some have left our group. But hopefully all will keep in touch via this website.
